Construction
Many participants have successfully gained their Health and Safety in Construction Level 1, completed their HSE tests and hold their green operative CSCS card. Others have further improved their CV by completing supporting qualifications such as Asbestos Awareness, Working at Heights and First Aid.
Another popular sector with many participants now working as stewards or door supervisors after completing the SIA course and receiving support to fund and apply for their SIA Licence which is a legal requirement for working in this area. Others have also completed the SIA CCTV Operative course and have received their licence to work in this sector of employment.
Personal Licence
In order to improve prospects of working in a licenced public house or a retail environment, many participants have undergone personal licence training. This is the statutory requirement needed to be able to sell alcohol in a retail environment. A real asset to those who wish to work in hospitality, catering, or in events – many of our participants have improved their job prospects by completing this course and have received project support to apply for the licence from Torfaen County Borough Council.
Often referred to as ‘Food Hygiene’, this course is just what you need if you would like to work anywhere that handles, prepares and serves food. This certificate is a legal requirement for anyone who would like to work in this environment. The course includes controlling food safety hazards, temperature control, food storage and preparation, personal hygiene and best practice in terms of work place cleanliness and standards in relation to food standards regulations.
This course is designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure you work safely and in accordance with Health and Safety regulations. It provides everything needed so that you can be aware of the importance of health and safety. The course includes risk management and hazard identification, accident prevention, careful lifting and management of heavy loads, safety signs and responsibilities in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.
This course enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to anyone who is injured or becomes ill in the workplace. This is a standard course for anyone who would like to work in a relatively low-risk workplace environment. Course content includes CPR, general first aid skills, how to deal with shock, what to do is someone is choking, as well as understanding the role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider.
This course is useful for anyone who would like to work in any stage of a customer service role. The course covers anything from dealing with customer queries on ground level to working towards the customer service strategy. The course also covers evaluating customer feedback and planning improvements.
Taxi Driving
We can now support you through the process of gaining your Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Licence to help you on your way to becoming a taxi driver.
This is a great area of work to go into if you would like to work at times that best suit you, but you are flexible with working hours such as late nights and weekends. If you are thinking of setting up your own company or looking to be employed by an established company, you will need your licence to enable you to work legally.
You will need a DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service) in order to check your criminal history and you may also need a medical to ensure you are legally fit to drive.
