Caleb Achieves his Dreams!

Celebrating #EmployabilityDay2019
Since December 2017 Caleb has been a participant of the Communities for Work programme. Caleb had suffered with depression and anxiety for a number of years and had really hit rock bottom.
Despite this, one of Caleb’s goals was to gain sustainable employment in an industry that inspired him and one for which he had a great passion.
After meeting with his Youth Employability Mentor and receiving one:one support and mentoring, he started attending a number of courses, and slowly his confidence grew. In early 2019, through determination and perseverance Caleb was selected as one of Welsh Governments’ 6 Cultural Apprentices with the Fusion Programme.
Caleb also has recently completed his first placement at Gwent Archives and is looking forward to moving on to Big Pit later this year. He is studying Cultural Heritage and thoroughly enjoying it.
Caleb said: ‘I believe that this Apprenticeship and the year leading up to it is exactly what I needed. It has helped me to gain confidence and new skills. I have been given an opportunity to start a career I never believed I could have’.
