Project Support Since April 2019

Update logo

April 2019 saw the start of the second year for Communities for Work Plus and the third year for Communities for Work.

We are so pleased to be able to offer employment support to those in Torfaen. We work with people who would like to get back into work or who need our help to upskill and improve their CVs so that they can work in the sector they really want.

Since April, our support has meant that:

  • We are currently supporting close to 200 Torfaen residents into work
  • 41 people have already been supported into employment
  • 63 people have achieved work related qualifications or licences
  • 18 work placements have been secured
  • 9 people have completed volunteer work placements

Everyone we are working with has access to work clubs in their local areas and 1:1 appointments with advisors and mentors who create a bespoke action plan for each person they work with.  Action plans may include finding relevant training and work placements in order for them to move closer to employment. Mentors and Advisors also have direct access to refer to the Building Resilient Communities team in order to support with wider issues such as debt, health and wellbeing, benefit advice and advocacy support. We are also very fortunate to have a Counsellor on the team.
